Beginning Gently

Before exercises, routines, or plans, it’s important to start with safety. Many pelvic floor symptoms are influenced by tension, stress, and holding — not just weakness.

This page is designed to help you slow things down, understand your body more clearly, and begin in a way that feels calm and supportive.

Understanding the Pelvic Floor

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that sit at the base of the pelvis and support the bladder, bowel, and uterus. Seeing where these muscles are can help everything feel less abstract and less frightening.

You don’t need to memorise this — it’s simply to give your mind a clear, calm picture of what we’re talking about.

Gentle Pelvic Floor Relaxation (For All Bodies)

Relaxation is safe and beneficial for both under-active (hypotonic) and over-working (hypertonic) pelvic floors. Softening the muscles and calming the nervous system often reduces symptoms and creates a safer foundation for any future support.

This gentle practice focuses on breathing and letting go. There is no strengthening, squeezing, lifting, or holding required.

If your body prefers stillness, simply listening or breathing along is enough. There is nothing you need to force or achieve.

Your Gentle Next Step

You don’t need to fix everything today. Creating a sense of safety and ease in your body is a meaningful step on its own.

When you feel ready, you can continue with guidance that respects your pace, your energy, and your individual experience.
